"Cervical Cancer: Prevention and Treatment"
What was once viewed as one of the leading causes of cancer death in U.S. women is now a lot less frightening. Cervical cancer has become a winnable battle thanks to the increased use of the Pap test. In fact, the overall cervical cancer death rate declined 74 percent from 1955 – 1992 and continues to decrease by 4% a year. Even with recent advances, the American Cancer Society estimates around 11,070 cases of invasive cervical cancer will be diagnosed in the United States this year and nearly 3900 women will die from the disease.
